We create award-winning logos, taglines, and other creative assets, but we do so much more.
For us it’s not so much about whiz-bang, being hip, pure creativity, or change simply for change’s sake. It’s about strategy, authenticity, and staying power. About getting to the essence of what makes your business tick, building on your legacy and values, and setting a new course with all of your plans, messaging, and creative in alignment. About leading you in an evolution; not a revolution.
We believe that most creative firms focus more on a radical esthetic reinvention rather than on a meaningful rediscovery; and that’s unfortunate. Brand identity at its best is something that grows from the inside out, since your brand is an extension of the DNA of who you are as a company.
That’s why we spend so much time understanding who you are, how you came to be, what you value, what problems you solve, what makes you unique, and where you want to go from here. That’s what we feel should ultimately drive your new brand articulation and expression, rather than the latest logo trend or creative embellishment. And rather than designing for awards or competitions, we find clarity, simplicity, usability, and shelf life more our motivators and measures of success. (Not that we haven’t picked up a few of those creative industry trophies in the process.)
Many business owners are perplexed by the black box and mystery of the creative process or are afraid of “losing themselves” in the process of a brand identity redesign. While we can’t tell you exactly where ideas come from, we can collaborate with you in building a firm foundation of strategy and reasoning about your organization that focused and appropriate creative can spring from. And we can always show you how that led to and inspired the creative insight.
Rebranding may require some radical shifts in the way you think and talk about yourself and your customers, but it shouldn’t be a “throw the baby out with the bathwater” scenario. Even if the situation requires that your comfort zone be stretched a bit, you should recognize yourself in the result. Or at least recognize the company you’ve decided you now want to become.
So in a nutshell, the Gist Brands “secret sauce” is helping you find (or refind) your own secret sauce. And then putting that into words, images, and plans that help you get unstuck and move forward.
